I'll throw out my gold teeth and see how they roll for The
Game-Players Of Titan.

It is at about this point in the play, in fact, that things
really get peculiar, and a gentle chill, an ambiguity,
begins to creep in among the words. Heretofore the naming of
names has gone on either literally or as metaphor.  But now,
as the Duke gives his fatal command, a new mode of
expression takes over. It can only be called a kind of
ritual reluctance. Certain things, it is made clear, will
not be spoken aloud; certain events will not be shown
onstage; though it is difficult to imagine, given the
excesses of the preceding acts, what these things could
possibly be (CL.71).

But with Driblette's admonishment about words, words, words,
we can all "project" whatever comes out of our "mouths,
eyes, sometimes other orifices also."  (CL.79).
 

Tannhauser has been discussed a bit, but again, Lisaura or
Elizabeth  is only part of the multiplex allusion here.
Pynchon's allusions are often idiosyncratic and their is a
progressive knotting into as we go along. That characters
merge, "map onto" and have doubles or multiples makes things
even more interesting.  Me, I like to go skipping around
GR.  Yes, skipping like Pontsman's Anglo-American team of
Harvey Speed and Floyd Perdoo. I guess Greta can make
Oedipa's and  Mitchell Prettyplace's of all, but not if we
can determine that Pynchon spins and twists and turns and
merges his multiplex allusions with some purpose. Greta is
perfect for this.  Maybe Pynchon gives us Greta so we can
see how a bunch of things work in GR. Yup, that's what I
think, but we will have to get into some old religion first
and brevity is good, so....
