would seem many of the so-called "post-modern" crowd are accused of this:  
seems to me there are many clever authors out there missing out on a 
fundamental emotion of homo sapiens:  out and out terror. Pynchon provides 
enough unease for a hundred candy drills.

Do you think the Slothrop sex scene w/ Darlene in any way mirrors the 
Roger/Jessica scene south of the river?  Both couplings ending with a rocket 
attack, no?
