Probably not used as much as in the 40s and 50s--when Freud and
psychiatry were so popular. Plus movies such as "Spellbound"
were kind of the rage in the 40s. In the 60s 'Paranoid' was a common
synonym for suspicious and distrustful. Not much different from now I
would say. "The Paranoid Style in American Politics" was a 60s
book.
This is not meant to be a "correct answer." Just something off
the top of my head. :-)
