The Rocket is a Dominatrix-substitiute? Right! And here the
rocket is linked to a couple of important GR
themes--death/love, innocense/guilt, S&M & Homosexual
relationships/self destructive power struggle--ceremony or
ritual, absolute/anihilation.
A little flash back or flash, well, my [front] pages
anyway....
Remember Etzel Oelsch and his exploding cigar (read whatever
Freudian implication you find most titillating here), BLAM.
He has a death-wish, "his genius was to be fatally receptive
to imagery associated with the rocket." GR.300-301 And
remember those rocket limericks and drinking songs--Marvy,
with his racist sickness and his sexual perversions, in his
White stetson hat? Those guys have sex with the rocket. What
happens to them? The V-2 leaves "nuttn'/But stiffs and big
holes and debris, too." And "Hector'd hydraulic connector"
and "Moorehead's wife" and the "cheaper turbine" and "woes
without cease/From his local police,/And a hell of a time
with the jury." Gr.There is also the tradition, the
"paranoid" tradition that "sez Enzian had his Illumination,
in the course of a wet dream where he coupled with a slender
white rocket," GR.297 this after being infected by the
"Christian sickness." GR.320-321 A-and look, they are in
some kinda denial here, well not really, it's "jive...to
look back toward an innocence...the gathered purity of
opposites, the village built like a mandella." Pynchon notes
his admiration for the paradoxical dialect of the Herero in
a letter he wrote. A-and what has happened to the milk?
"Unconcecrated, is swallowed in cold whiteness, cold as the
north..." Don't those DP children on the train with Slothrop
have some vitamin deficiency? Not the same one as the Dora
prisoners, right? That Enzian came to understand his manhood
by understanding the masculine technologies of the rocket,
bend over here it cums, but that homosexual thing, well it
was a system won from mother earth, contracts of winning and
losing, Weissmann taught him to be a pet in the service of
the rocket. GR.324 A-and Enzian found the name Bleicherode
or Blicker or Death or Weissmann or Dominus Blicero in
Germany GR322.
""O be inspired by the flame!'....The rest is foreplay
GR.97-99
BTW, crap is a word I use in a neutral way, like people say
shit, like, "give me that shit over there," even if they are
referring to there best dope or their favorite dudes, so I
was not commenting on the essay when I wrote "JFK crap."
