>Just prior to Saure and R-Man simultaneously mutually agreeing on
"Raketemensch," reference is made to a legendary ambush involving Tonto and
the Kemosabe (I guess). This may have been elaborated on in previous reads,
but does anyone know the details regarding that episode of The Lone Ranger?
>All I remember is the Lone Ranger was once a Texas Ranger. At one point he
is ambushed by a bunch of bad guys (not Indians) and Tonto saves him. Tonto
becomes his helper in rounding up the bad guys and once that's done decides
to stay on.
>Checked with Weisenburger and the name of the Lone Ranger was Dan Reid. W
also gives the information that Dan was the father of Britt Reid, the Green
Hornet, over on p 376. (I had never heard THAT before)
***************
In case its on the test:
Butch Cavendish and his gang were the bad guys.
Reid is assumed killed along with the rest of the rangers and decides to
stay that way by hiding his identity (surviver's guilt?). If I'm not
mistaken, the sanctuary where Tonto takes the ranger is a silver mine --
hence: bullets, horse...
It's at this point (Tonto having nursed the guy back to health) that Reid
is born again as "Lone." Poignant.
Hi, Ho...
