piece a sacred relic, every scrap of manual a verse of
Scripture.

What do the Faithful seek?  They seek "the Way."  The
Way is a path to the Divine, Home, the Zero.

There is an S&M connection here, which runs through
GR:  The Faithful is a supplicant seeking guidance,
seeking the Lord and Master.  The seeker may resort to
begging when faced with his own inadequacy.  He may be
willing to pay (and what does he have which is of any
worth) for just a glimpse of the Homeland.  This
payment might entail pain, in greater and greater
increments...
