A horrible non sequitur here.  Does anyone remember seeing a television 
series (over several nights) called "The Century" which focused on major 
advances over the last one?  Many authors, journalists and international 
notables contributed to the discussion.  Anyway, after rereading Enzian and 
Weissmann scenarios in GR, I was reminded of a quote by Salman Rushdie:  "Any 
concept of purity leads straight to the gas chamber."  Might anyone know 
citation information for this broadcast?
