My 12-year-old son loves the Potter books, and is currently making his way
through the _Lord of the Rings_ trilogy, having just read _The Hobbit_ in
about a day.  Wants to read Estleman's Novels of Detroit next . . .

The kid has taste, one can argue, and I can't wait 'til he's ready for
Pynchon.
