Is it reasonable to assume the genius/advanced thinkers of every age
felt the need to abandon strict sincerity with regard to the standard
thinking of their time? Thus Irony was born. If it had not already been 
invented as a dramatic device. The Greeks had a word for it.

Not saying this particular example is such a case.
