I haven't read Pelevin yet but have read up on he and authors of his
generation - they all look very exciting for the discerning p-list
reader. I have Pelevin's _Generation ,P'_ (that should be a Russian
"pay" letter, looks like pi) sitting on my desk, waiting for its turn -
in Russian though, so I'm in no huge hurry (my Russian's not that
great!)
I would especially like to read Andrei Bitov's _Pushkin House_ -

The English translation is good news because, some time back,
people were concerned about its translatability.
There's a nice anthology of some of these Russian authors, _Contemporary
Russian Prose_, edited by big name Slavicists Karl and Ellendea Proffer
and published by Ardis. Includes Aksenov, Bitov, Iskander, Rasputin,
Shukshin, Sokolov, Trifonov. Unfortunately I hear Ardis is publishing
cookbooks now rather than Slavic studies stuff, so this might have
the be a used find.
