Yes I do have a copy of that so often referred to classic though have not
consulted it lately. Perhaps I will do so as you suggest.

That was the quote I was aiming for but didn't want to get the
book out. Perhaps the Operation is only a subset of the System. Or a
synecdoche for the system which itself doesn't literally exist
but stands for the predicament in which society finds itself and
from which there is no escape. The system is a text we are trapped in.
More or less something like that.
