Just to complete the loop, you might say that rj's tactics mimic that 
of the rapper he seems to idolize -- a kind of hate speech (his 
consistent denial and minimizing of Pynchon's critique of Nazi 
genocide; more generally, his mean-spirited misrepresentation of his 
interlocutors' statements to make it appear as if they might instead 
be the hate speakers) in the service of self-promotion...a marketing 
scheme to kick-start that Pynchon studies career perhaps? The way 
Eminem used hate speech to break through the market clutter.
