What's the band in this story?

1995: Liner notes to "Nobody's Cool" by the band Lotion. One of the band's 
parents advises Pynchon in some financial way.

1996: 'Esquire' of June features Pynchon's interview with band Lotion.

Despite the above, although I can't find the reference, I remember seeing 
something that said the Lotion liner notes were a hoax by the band.  As for 
the Esquire interview, I'd think that would be a tuff hoax to pull.
