Speaking as one half of an inter-racial, and cross-cultural, 
marriage, I can say that bridging the racial and cultural divide -- 
moving away from relationship with "Other" to an intimate 
understanding of an individual person as friend, lover, partner, 
spouse -- represents, for me, an engaging and enlightening, if not 
always easy and smooth, path. It's possible (I of course have no way 
of knowing whether or not this was the case) that Fanon felt 
something like this in his own personal relationship with his wife.
