Two questions, is there any proof at all that Melville
tossed his wife down a stairs, that he beat his wife? Is
there any proof, except for the excerpts Leonard notes, the
same old excerpts and so forth, that Melville was a
homosexual?
Wood, Oh bother....
"But Melville-and-sexuality seems to be
what everyone is interested in except
James Wood in The Broken Estate,
who prefers Melville-and-Calvin."
Everyone but James Wood, that's so funny it's unbelievable.
Everyone John? No kidding? Hey, everyone seems to be
thinking and writing about the sexual repression of
American's great authors. Wonder why? Tossed his wife down a
stairs, now if John can proof that Melville beat his wife or
if any one else can.
