Tubal Politics

Several times in this last year I've got near to unsubscribing. The list
has seemed dominated by those who mistake intellectual ability and academic
knowledge for wisdom and those who are made uncomfortable by political
commitment and therefore try (maybe unconsciously) to cast doubt on the
certainty of TP's politics.
Then just as I start to compose my cheerio the current I enjoy on this
list reasserts itself. Maybe I'll still be on the list next winter and
have time to join in the fray. In the meantime I just wanted to say to
those of you flying the radical flag, its good to be in your company. Keep
up the good fight. And to those of you who feel the real world is a
diversion from the pure light of academic pursuits - you condone Their
dominance with every word you write. The deafening silence which followed
Peter P's posting of the Vision Thing article spoke volumes.
Re the tube debate. Harlan Ellison's collection of TV criticism "The
Glass Teat" is well worth reading on the subject. Written at a time when
his heart was bigger than his head.

Okay tea break's over - back on my head I must go.
