1. Disable cookies on your computer.
2. Let the computer ask you to confirm anytime you send some
information.
3. If you want to stay anonymous, send your e-mails without a name.
In Netscape: use the Edit-Preferences-(Advanced) buttons.
4. Use the Filter function.
5. Do not use a web link unless you trust it.  Use a search engine.

Phones and publicity:
6. In my country (Belgium) one can subscribe to 'the Robinson List'.
>From that moment on, no firm is allowed to phone you at home , and no
firm can send you any publicity you did not ask for.
7. If your name turns up in a database (your Zoo subscription, your
paper, a club, ...) a corporation is obliged to let you know that if
they want to sell your data, you can always forbid them to do it.

This week in the paper:
8. Buy your second hand books in a real shop.  They are more expensive
on the net.

It's all fairly easy. Or too paranoid?
