  Again, my post is ripe with late-night Coronas and dry tobacco, but does 
it seem like this whole Roseland-thru-Whappo excursion might have something 
to do with Pirate?  Like this lil Excretable Excursion is Slothrop's 
adenoid?
  I'll freely admit I've never made much sense of this particular diversion 
in the story- I always just thought it was where Slothrop ended up as the 
drugs left his body open to whatever probing Pointsman's crew has been 
cooking up...  But I also read without much in-depth analysis, just enjoying 
the way the texts waves break over my brain.
  But gee whiz gang, I feel smarter all ready!
