"You know exactly that we are exploiters. You know exactly that we first took
the gold and the metals und then the oil of the "new continents" and brought
it in our old mother contries. Not without excellent results: Palaces,
kathedrals, industrial cities... This fat and colourless continent addicted
to something that Fanon rightly calls "narcism"... And what does Europe do?
And North America, this "transeuropean" monster? They talk about freedom,
equality, brotherhood, love, honor, fatherland, whatever. All this doesn't
hinder us to speak in a racist way at the same time: dirty nigger, dirty jew,
dirty arab. Liberals and other highly sensitive souls - with other word,
neo-colonialists - said they were "shocked" about this inconsequence. Either
mistake or bad conscience:nothing's more consequent than racist humanism,
because the European made himself to a human being by creating slaves and
monsters."
Jean-Paul Sartre, foreword in: Frantz Fanon, The Damned of the Earth
(september 1961). My translation.
One year later, Sartre's apartment in Paris was destroyed by a bomb of the
OAS.
Terrance - keep on staying on the list! We need you - and of course all the
others!!!!
