Yo Dude,
I'll reframe what I think is a reasonable question. Why does
TRP use "erotigraphic" writing just now? If not just to tickle the clit, to
fondle the nozzle, to whisper sexy aspirants in our ear, Why? He seems to do
nothing to no-purpose. There is vanishingly little explicit lovemaking
depicted in SLOW LEARNER, V., or LOT 49, published in the era when First
Ammendment rights had recently been loosened. Not too long before, when TRP
was an under graduate, we had to rely on friends coming back from Paris to
read NAKED LUNCH, or even the much milder LOLITA. (Fifty Million Frenchman
Can't Be Wrong.) Why now, in GR? at this point in the text? does Pynchon use
"erotigraphics"? As one doe said to another, "Some days you can't make a
buck." I did like rj's clarifying the meta-reader. It was a good summary of
the critical literature on that.
