Interesting. Fools being confined aboard a ship as if it were  a place for
depositing the insane is what comes to mind for me. Being on a ship for any
extended time DOES feel like confinement. Is the connection for Foucault related to
the use of the same word in French for both madness and foolishness (if this is
more of less correct)?
