Sexually it would seem that Greta is Katje's ancestor.  Greta is the "Old 
Woman."

Katje occupies a central mytho-sexual role in GR.  She is the Female as we 
see her in _V._

When Slothrop hooks up with with Greta it should not surprise us that he is 
bound to her.  Greta is Katje, sent to initiate Slothrop into his ancestry.
