On p. 490, Slothrop "knows as well as he has to that it's the S-Geraet
after all that's been following him, it and the pale plastic ubiquity of
Laszlo Jamf." This -- although as much has been hinted at all along --
is as clearly and forthrightly as we have seen it stated yet. Could this
tie in with how as Paul said, Slothrop "is getting pretty flakey about
this time"? -- He is starting to fully believe the paranoia rather than
just suspect. -- On the other hand whilst under the influence a few
nights ago, my reaction to reading that line was, "Yes! He's finally
beginning to understand!" Whether enlightenment or insanity, major
changes are underway.

Both Melissus and Parmenides argue fallaciously,
and they make false assumptions and their reasonings
are not logical; but the argument of Melissus is the
more wearisome, for it sets no problem, but granted
one strange thing, others follow; and there is no
difficulty in this.
