  In praising the splendid 'Warlock', Murphy Yenamandra guesses :

>Actually, I suspect that the real events that the novel fictionalizes

  Seems a reasonable surmise, but not true -- the real events defy
summation, but involve rustlers precipitating a crisis in US-Mexican
relations, the Mexican Army, stagerobbers doubling as assassins for
the local Democratic party, Wyatt Earp singlehandedly taking on ten
rustlers in a spectacular gunfight (and winning), a feud over a beau-
tiful Jewish actress, etc.

  Fictional accounts of the whole Tombstone mess of 1880-82 have had
to _tone-down_ the historical events : too extravagant.
