My favorite site for finding a quick translation for a word (German/English
only) is http://dict.leo.org/ the online dictionary maintained by Technischen
Universität München. That Lernout & Hauspie translator seems to know a bit of
idiom, maybe it would sometimes be useful for translating phrases that you can't
make sense of on a word-by-word basis.
