No, I´m sorry, but Weisenburger gives no reason. The ones you mentioned are
of course both possible and plausible, but I tend to assume it´s the first
one. Don´t want to believe that Joni could have had something against it . .
. besides, it´s such a beautiful verse, and a beautiful song too if you have
a sense for Joni´s music, whom I admire since the seventies (along with
Steely Dan and Frank Zappa). My girlfriend´s just put up For The Roses,
means that "Big Brother" is over . . .
