Kai quoted some Horkheimer/Adorno (H&A) and ends: "Call me Heidegger."

Kai, I´ve seen your brilliance from the first posts I read from you, like
the brilliance of Doug and many others (no name dropping now) from the list.
All I request is that you say hocus-pocus instead of bullshit like my
English teacher forced me to do to be able to give me better grades in the
abitur.

On anti-Semitism:
You don´t give the page numbers of the anti-Semitism-chapter in H&A but I
found it anyway (185-86). Your translation is very good. You could have
quoted several pieces to support your point and answering to Goldhagen:
"There is no genuine anti-Semitism, surely there are no born anti-Semites."
(154, m.o.p.a.t.) - I fully agree. Our fathers have been forced into that
war as children like Kurt-Werner Poertner has written in his post. My father
is of 1926 too, he never mentioned that there were any guns used in that
war, only speaking about flying and the "crime" of the allied bombings. In
fact he was no nazi before 1945 but became one (in mind, not organized)
after the fathers of the American list-members had freed us from the nazi
government.
But H&A seem not to differentiate between the several national fascisms and
German naziism which cannot be separated from the Holocaust and on the
question of the death camps, the Shoah, I think this is necessary. Sociology
is not enough to explain it and 1947 was quite early to say something about
the camps, much historical research had to be done, there remained so much
to be found out and said about it, no Raul Hilberg nor Claude Lanzman yet. I
can find no "Auschwitz" nor "Wannseekonferenz" in the book and I guess H&A
was more oriented towards the future, that it may not happen again, nowhere
on this planet. Thanks for making me read it again.

on open vs. moderated list:
Kai, your best point is your last: "this wouldn't be a list that deserves it
to bear the man's name ... " When I came home from nightshift today I went
through all the messages in the archives on the topic of Sex&Swastika (on
the question of Geli and Hitler´s sex, a thread before I entered the list,
just out of interest) and I would not like to see one of them removed or
edited. The list is worth his name, even if my friend Byron the Bulb thinks
the discussion sometimes is about the length of his toenails.

Michael Naumann sez he´s not sure about the date but we´ve got no other one
and tomorrow is the 8th may, Zero Hour, TRP´s birthday, VE-DAY - and the day
Helena Blavatsky died in 1891.

"It is peacetime again now, no room for the pidgeons in Trafalgar Square on
V-E Night, everyone at the facility that day mad drunk and hugging and
kissing, except for the Blavatskian wing of the Psi Section . . ." (GR 269)
