On Ishmael Reed: "(check out ishmael reed. he knows more about it than
you'll ever find here.)"
(GR p. 588).

TRP is referring to the same sentence in Reed Wilson later used as the
opening quote of "The Eye in the Pyramid."

"Someone once said that beneath or behind all political and cultural warfare
lies a struggle between secret societies."
(Reed, Atheneum 1972, p. 18)

Kai quoted R.A.Wilson:
  "i read m u m b o j u m b o only about three years after the finishing
of
 i l l u m i n a t u s! the same is true for pynchon's g r a v i t y 's
  r a i n b o w. the striking resemblance of these three books is
correspondence, synchronicity or higher intelligence (please choose). i like
everything ishmael reed writes (...)" (r.a. wilson: the illuminati papers)

Kai, I didn´t believe it in 1983 and don´t believe it now - how come that
the quote from Reed opens the first book of the Illuminatus-trilogy? In
another interview in the Swiss Sphinx-Magazine no. 1 from 1977 he claims
having finished the trilogy in 1971 but according to my records the trilogy
came out in 1975, two years after Gravity´s Rainbow (1973). I read his
answer as a defending answer. In the question the interviewer does not
mention GR. The whole Illuminatus-story is based upon this paranoid idea of
the conspiracy of the masons to become immortal, using the death energy of
large numbers of victims to lift the own soul to the Other Kingdom. Pynchon
goes on with the "famous Missouri Mason Harry Truman" and Hiroshima. In
Illuminatus we are told that every mass murder of our history fulfilled this
purpose up to that rock festival intended to kill the visitors in order to
lift Hitler (who lives disguised in Israel) into eternity.

MUMBO JUMBO (1972)
from p. 5: "He said he was hearing shank bones, jew´s harps, bagpipes,
flutes, conch horns, drums, banjos, kazoos."

from p. 6: "Mumbo Jumbo - (Mandingo <ma-magyo-mbo,> "magician who makes the
troubled spirits of ancestors go away": <ma-ma,> grandmother+<gyo>,
trouble+<mbo>, to leave)"

p.71: secret submarine of the Templars
