So I put down my copy of _Women and Men_ since the replies I received on
the list indicate that no one on the list (and possibly the rest of the
world) has actually read the book. The straw that broke the camels back
came when one of the German list members said that he couldn't really
understand what was going on in McElroy's books since English isn't his
first language. Rest assured friend -- even those of us who call English
our first language can't understand what is going on in McElroy's books.

So I put down Women and Men and picked up _House of Leaves_. I still
haven't put it down. My recommendation: run out and pick up a copy for
yourself (word from the bookstore that I purchased my copy at is that there
aren't going to be any more copies printed ever -- probably b.s., but
that's what they said). Very gimmicky, but still one of the most
entertaining books that I've read in a long time.
