Postmodernism

The truth -- i.e., that the wealthy 1% of the world will defend their wealth
& privileges by "whatever means necessary," and that "western democracy" has
been a sham & a lie since its conception & that the morality of the major
religions are relative to the cultures in which they had their respective
beginnings -- being out there; & the illumination of it being labeled
variously as postmodernism, communism, cynicism, anarchy, fascism or
whatever, makes no difference. Truth is simply truth, & it's how it's seen &
what is done about it that causes the reaction -- whether positive, negative
or just indifference. I have preferred the term "existentialism," because
that was the buzzword when I was in college. I recall the same arguments &
denunciations in nearly the same words.
I'm not familiar with a lot of the thinkers who have been cited, but I think
I get the general idea of what is being discussed. I'm one of those
convinced that no idealization is really new in the sense of having never
been thought out & at least discussed. These labels are handy & help us sort
out the tremendous amount of information flowing in as long as they don't
become cults or ideologies fixed in time & frozen in absurdities. That's
when the faces start turning red & the shouting begins.
