Who can forget the incredibly handsome Anthony Eden with his
Public-School-honed upper class speech. It's that speech that apparently
sounded adenoidal to some people I guess. But your explanation is OK too.

Back to the subject of Antwerp and the end of the war. The word was in
Yossarian's outfit that the port area was much in danger of reoccupation
during the German winter offensive and I quote:

(Y is trying to justify his defection)

Y: "The country's not in danger anymore but I am."

Danby: The war's not over yet. The Germans are driving toward
Antwerp."
