Warlock

One big public Thank You to Charles Albert and Scott Badger (and Spencer
Thiel I think it was that plugged it on the list before them) for raving
about _Warlock_ long and hard enough that I finally managed to read it
recently. Some "western"!

My only problem now is that it spoils me for any future westerns I may
be tempted to read or watch. Not likely anyway since I've never been a
big fan of the genre, but after finishing this book I was tempted into
agreeing to watch the movie _Tombstone_, expecting some pleasant echoes
and a semblance of the beauty. Double Yuck! Cardboard characters to
match the plot without depth. Actually, I suspect that the real events
that the novel fictionalizes are probably themselves a little dull
compared to this most excellent novel. Plot was a little weak in a
couple of places, but that's a small quibble.

I do intend to check out _Blood Meridian_ soon.
