Just a note, without a comment on the politics of it all:  amazon.com
can and does edit reviewer's comments when it suits their needs.  The
Family Circle incident comes to mind, and more recently, Dave Eggers (of
mcsweeney.net and A Heartbreaking Work of etc. fame) ran a contest on
his website, asking readers to write obviously false reviews of his
book.  When Amazon caught on, reader's reviews dropped from 200 plus to
about 16.   Some of them were still there when last I checked.

I'm not sure what this means.
