Pynchon in Belgium

Hello there,
I'd just like to mention that Pynchon is definitely read and studied in
Belgium. The French speakers may read the French translations, and the
Dutch speakers may read the Dutch translations--everything has been
translated into Dutch except for _V._ and _Mason & Dixon_ (which I
reviewed in 1997 for the Flemish newspaper _De Morgen_)--but most of us
read him in the original. Being from Antwerp, I have obviously looked
into the importance of Antwerp in _GR_, and some of that research
transpires in my introduction to the upcoming _Pynchon Notes_ issue on
_GR_, which is due anyday now. I can confirm the 567 casualties after a
V-2 fell on the Rex movie theatre. Customers were watching _Buffalo Bill
and the Indians_ when the bomb came down.
Best wishes,
Luc Herman
