Thanks, and hi, Vaska. My assumption that Majistral means "magister"
was, now that I think about it, based on the Goethe (or is it Marlow)
reference of the character's first name. Faust was a magister ("a doctor
even!"). Should have known that things usually aren't THAT easy in
Pynchon.
