Von Braun might be said to share something of Blicero's dream of 
transcending Earth. The parallel is far from complete, of course, but 
beyond the dream of colonizing space, VB and B  share a Nazi 
background and involvement in the German long-range rocket program

The article notes a 1952 series of "illustrated articles in Collier's 
Magazine" where he discussed his vision.

The article says that "Von Braun is God inside the halls of NASA." I 
wonder which aspect of this deity they worship.
