VV(1) - Profane's Nightmare

"East Main" is our first encounter with this first Street:  "a ghetto for 
Drunken Sailors nobody knew what to Do With."  East Main is very actively 
populated, but in Profane's later nightmare it becomes a world completely 
inanimate (40.15).  It then becomes a place he percieves designed for his 
disassembly, his transition to the death, his becomming but so many piles of 
raw material to be re-worked by later "animates."
