Keith,
Hi, I'm Greg Johnson of Cordelero. The title "High Susanna Squaducci"
is a reference to Thomas Pynchon's novel "V." There is a scene in the book
where the protagonist, an ex-Navy man, is partying with a bunch of people on
a small Navy or Coast Guard boat called the "Susanna Squaducci". At one
point the protagonist leaves the others and climbs high up on the top of the
ship and observes the party from above, drinking and philosophizing until
the MPs come and arrest everyone.
I identified with this scene because when I write music I feel like an
observer hovering above the world lost in my own musings and occasionally
noticing how strange people are when seen from a distance.
Hope this clears it up for you. I'm curious, what prompted you to
contact us? Yours is the first email I've received from mp3.com in over a
year. I'm recording more songs as we speak about a year off due to loads of
distractions from school and life in general. I do enjoy the fact that
people are still visiting the site. My pal Sid, the guitar player, moved
across country a few months ago and the recording process has slowed down a
bit because of it.
Thanks for the mail,
Greg
