..well, at least of the 80s, are back. Their name, in case you have
never heard of them, which is quite likely, is The Go-Betweens. They're
from Australia and, as Robert Christgau

says in this week's Village Voice, their treatment of love's labours
lost or won in the form of traditional guitar-based pop songs does not
have its equal anywhere in pop music. I believe they will be touring the
US next year, and in case they come to your town you should definitely
go and see them. Besides, the body of work they have created in the late
70s and the 80s is still among pop's most undervalued treasures. I have
been listening to their music for almost twenty years now and it just
doesn't seem to wear out. And no, I don't get a penny for posting this.

Thomas, a little embarrassed, but feeling safe because there is also a
P-connection, as Robert Forster, one of the two singers/songwriters of
the Go-Betweens, acts in and has written a song for the German
docufiction "Song of the Rocket" based upon GR, which is to be released
soon, hopefully - but I have told you about this before, haven't I?

"She was in The Omen/
with Gregory Peck/
She got killed/
what the heck."

The Go-Betweens, "Lee Remick"
