>>>Is the aim of Profane's quest really "a place in society"? Is he on a
quest at
all? I have the general impression that as a yo-yo he is more or less being
constantly pushed around by forces outside of his reach, trying to get along
as
good as he can.<<<

One of such forces is sentimental impulse. Yet, even when following such an
impulse to an old haunt on East Main, that very East Main catches him by
surprise. He always sees anima in the inanimate, the waiting presence in the
emptiness, the soul in ev'ry stone. He yo-yos between surface and depth,
conscious and unconscious, waking reality and dreamtime. Anchored in
neither. Looking for one, he finds the other. As above, so below. Fast goes
fast. Slow goes slow. Rich are rich and the po' are po'. Everybody's doing
the Low Yo Yo Yo Yo. Everybody's doing it. Deep down everybody knows they
should. Do the Low Yo Yo Yo Yo.
