Don't have time to get all hermeneutic here, now, but an interesting
point to make MIGHT be that, whilst ideally, in a frictionless,
Newtonian, perhaps Platonic universe, that simple harmonic yo-yoation
might well be time-reversible, running the same backwards as forward, in
that there "real" world, not to mention in that entropic Pynchoniverse,
that kinetic energy tends to be dissipated, as heat, becasue of friction
(air, string, what have you).  Which resonates (...) quite well with
Pynchon's, V.'s, er, tropics, tropology, whatever, no?  Let me know.
