I think you're right.  He is easily moved.  In some ways this makes him a 
"sensitive" akin to Slothrop.

I'm sure you must have an answer to this question: "His mechanical heart?"  
Do you care to explain?

Well, he's not Pappy Hod, is he (or maybe he IS?)?  But that's what Paola 
wanted him NOT to be.  Slothrop is juevenile, not Pappy-like.  Paola seems 
though to want a Pappy, someone to take care of her.  She is the 
double-minded one, it seems, indecisive in her own way, somewhat like the 
prime Venus-chracter in GR.

Indecisive and Mechanical are VERY different.  In fact, they are almost 
opposite.
