Benjamin was not the chosen heir.  In fact he was one of the jealous group
who sold their brother Joeseph into slavery.  I don't think this has much
application to Benny Profane.

Well, I'm reading V. for the first time and at the pace of the discussion,
so I am going to wait and see if there is anything helpful about the
Benny-Benjamin-Rachel connection. Benjamin was the youngest of the brothers
and held a special place in the family. He was *not* party to the jealousy
that resulted in Joseph's slavehood and became a pawn in the relationship
between Joseph and Jacob and the older brothers.
