New Essays on the Crying of Lot 49 (New York: Cambridge UP, 1992).  Nota
bene: the friendly independent bookstore, not to mention the friendly
independent bookstore owner, that I try to give all my full-price
business to (hey, I gotta get what I can used, or on sale, but
sometimes, often ...) ordered this straight from CUP for me, and,
despite their typically, notably (even for a university press) high
prices (once received an e-mailed response that began, "Dear Mr. Monroe,
I'm the corporate flack in charge of glad-handing responses" ...
seriously), finding themselves out of the paperback ed., they shipped
the hardcover at paperback prices, AND the savings were passed on to
me.  So afore ye rush "out" to amazon or bn or whoever dot com ... but
thanks for the reference, Doug.  Just ordered my copy.  And do see Alan
Nadel's (quoted in that blurb) Containment Culture ...
