Correction:  Terance's observation.  I only echoed.

The mechanical black man.  It does seem antithetical, but...  Jazz is (or at 
least was) a black-art.  Remember the Rosebud Ballroom?  Remember Marcel?  I 
think Marcel's fatal flaw was not caring enough.  Would you if you were...

Jazz is essentially African with a little injection of western melody.  If 
there is a human music it must be African.

McC's music is not clearly anything but unclear.  He's got all the jazz 
names, but only his music counts so far.  Does he have motives?  What are 
his loves?  Is he maybe a prophet?  He might only foretell, embody, 
represent, but not BE.  Sometimes prophets need to be actors.
