What of Pynchon's darkest heart of Germany. 


 The "primitive" German? Yes, that what they are called in
GR. And "God's poorest and most panicked creature." Poor
Pokler, a rocket scientist is but " a poor harassed German
soul. " Whatsmore, this German primitive has connected with
"the rapid flashing of successive stills to counterfeit
movement," for over two centuries. The mania for subdividing
in this novel is particularly German, the German is obsessed
with language and naming, dividing the creation, analyzing,
and setting name apart from named. The German male at
puberty rebels against  a "detestable Burgerlichkeit" and in
the wake of Wandervogel idiocy" reads Hesse, Stefan George,
Richard Wilhelm, and becomes ready to embrace Hitler on the
basis of Demian-metaphysics", a "schwarmerei" that
degenerates into fanaticism for science and technology,
specialization, Control and rationalized power structures.
