Wish I could read the poem in German like Kai and some others here. My
college German is unfortunately 50+ years old. I do at least have a
dual language version :-). As you say, maybe the right word for Rilke's
insight is celebration rather than recognition. In any event R's poem is
not something anyone in their right mind is going to try to act out.
Like perhaps the Nazi's did.
