"If we can become familiar and comfortable with the idea that makes
us afraid of death, we shall begin to transform that fear. We shall
also begin to live our lives more deeply and with more care and
awareness. When we can envision and accept our own death, we are able
to let go of many ambitions, worries, and sufferings. In short, we
are able to let go of all the things which keep us so unnecessarily
busy. We can begin to live in a way meaningful for ourselves and for
other species."
--The Blooming of a Lotus, by Thich Nhat Hanh (Vietnamese monk,
nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1967 by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr.;

P.S. Terrance, thanks for continuing to share the fruit of your
reading and thought re Pynchon and GR. Ignore the pot shots --
obviously it's much easier for some of our number to throw rocks at
somebody who's trying to say something than it is to engage that
person in a discussion of substance.
