Memento

First great American movie of the century (beginning,
of course, Januray 1st, 2001). Heartbreakers, Joe
Dirt and Josie and the Pussycats, on the other hand
... I suppose Pokemon 3 doesn't count. I go for the
opening "short" (which is usually about 15-20 mins.
long) myself, which, stripped of the intrusive
narration, are minor surrealist masterpieces. Those
little beasties just running around saying their names
over and over again ... anyway, hope to get to Six
Days in Septmeber, Blow and Yi-Yi this weekend (we're
always a little behind the curve as to what shows up
in town). Free screening of A Hard Day's Night
(though I went a few times during the rerelease).
Mutiny on the Bounty (the old, good one), the
original, Raymond Burr-less Godzilla (Gojira) ... but
if you haven't seen In the Mood for Love, I'm going to
hit it at LEAST a third time (I know people who've
gone four or five times already) ...
