Good morning, America ...

Fair enough, though I belive "Dude" here is a title
already spoken for ("Is Monroe Hollander?" Hm ...).
I will note I was a little less Anglo-Saxon, a little
more family hour, a little more, well, polite about
things, but ...

Hey, now there's an interesting, albeit perhaps
untenable ("pure" + "bullshit") concept, one which
certainly problematizes certain lines of
anthropologica thought, but ... well, okay, being a
wiseguy here (one of my many endearing traits, no
doubt) ...

  You can't be specific about

But I could. Given time, patience, incentive (all
three of which I'm currently sorely lacking in),
shuffle through the Archives, at least since I signed
on, and find examples of, say, exactly what just
happened here, where you've complained bluntly that a
topic is uniteresting, unworthy, whatever, even as the
pitch and intensity of the discussion belied this.
For starters. I've never been under the impression
that you've been addressing both (or more)
participants, sides, what have you. There are
predictable weather patterns here @ the Pynchon-List
...

Why I go to this much trouble to continue to respond
to these things, I don't know, but, well, I think it
important in some cases. I do not let hard feelings
remain as such insofar as it is in my power to do so
...

but if you a want specific example of

Don't know about "re-emergence." Doug's apparently
been too busy to keep up even on the interesting
little (and sometimes not so little) news items he
used to post regularly. But point well taken. We
speak up for others here when we deem it necessary.
Again, fair enough ...

"Big One" is

Well, whoever s/he is, s/he's not quite a "lackey," in
that s/he doesn't much seem to uphold any given
position, poster, whatever, against any other one.
Just certain hypocrisies seem to piss him/her off. As
they do me. I'm just not quite so blunt about it
(again, politesse ...) ...

That I happen to be in that

Don't know about "in league," just a pattern, is all.
Have yet to uncover the cave, the candles, the skulls,
but ... conspiracy vs. contingency? A strongly
suggested causality, at any rate. Whatever ...

  That is a

Well, me and the Mrs. have never been able to have a
little one of our own, so ...

I of course disagree with you on the latter ("spent"
and "poverty"), but do apologize if I misread you on
the former. Again. And I do thank you for
reintroducing Mr. Pynchon's fine first novel, V., back
into the discussion. Again, might well be in the Big
E-Z in the near future, would not be adverse to saying
"hello." Will leave the hired goons at home ...
